SW Radio Africa interview

SW Radio Africa broadcasts online and all over Africa, including my birthplace Zimbabwe -- I had an interview with Lance Guma, presenter of their "On the Pulse" show, together with Slyvester from Zimfest and Kuda from DKR (who are headlining at Zimfest this year)... have a listen online this evening (and possibly win tickets to Zimfest) at www.swradioafrica.com

Zimfest is actually ... a fundraiser...

All the excitement about Zimfest being this weekend might be overshadowing the fact that Zimfest is actually hosted by WeZimbabwe, a UK registered charity that raise funds to help Zimbabweans. ...

I'm raising money for WEZIMBABWE and I'd really appreciate your support. This year some funds raised at this huge event that Zimfest has become will go towards Tichakunda preschool - a school which emerged after the Hatcliffe Extension squatter camp was razed to the ground in "Operation Murambatsvina". The 600 young children that attend at Tichakunda range between the ages of 2 - 9 years old, and are taught lessons and given one daily meal of porridge. They are trying to raise money to sink a borehole so the children can have access to clearn water, build classrooms so they can have lessons in a structure other than in a wooden shack, build toilets, and to give the children more than one meal a day - for some of these children that's the only meal they are getting... find out more about their projects.

I dont need to tell you that some of these necessities are things many of us take for granted. Make a donation, small - or big - to help change the future of someone else. I am sure you can spare a pound. It's easy to donate online with a credit or debit card - just go to my JustGiving page:

http://www.justgiving.com/Sahara-Cee

JustGiving sends your donation straight to WEZIMBABWE and automatically reclaims Gift Aid on all eligible donations, so what you give is worth even more. I hope you'll join me in supporting WEZIMBABWE.

Thank you.

One week till Zimfest !!

I hope you're coming! I hope to see you there... Be early and get your money's worth, cause I'm on stage at 3pm, and thereafter I hope to be able to be doing a proper meet and greet :D

I've confirmed my set, and things are ready to rock! Just tweaking a few inevitable last minute issues..... hmmm...

... anyway...

This past week I did a radio interview with Lance Guma on SW Radio Africa, along with Slyvester who does the PR for Zimfest , Kuda of the brilliant band DKR. Its going to be broadcast on Friday evening from their website. SW Radio Africa are also running a competition to give away 4 tickets to this year's Zimfest - click here to find out how easy it is to win!

Also, if you're in South London, look out for a copy of Live Magazine - I did an interview with Chenai this week :D Live Magazine is a brilliant initiative, based in Brixton and run entirely by 12 - 21 year olds!! Wow! Thats something really positive to be involved with. Anyway, check their website for the article (I'll post an updated link when I have one).

Its going to be a wonderful show... Zimfest is absolutely brilliant!!!

See you there !!!!

Miss Africa Perth 2009

The Miss Africa Perth pageant 2009 was held on 23rd May, at the Astor Theatre, Mount Lawley, Perth... it had claimed to be the cultural event of the year -- and it lived up to that completely!!

A beautiful, sassy young lady who was born in Sudan was the victor on the day, and competition was tight as many African beauties vied for the title and opportunity to make a difference for Africans in Perth and back home.

I performed "The Circle of Life", an Elton John cover, which I thought was fitting to the event. The evening was a resounding success, and I was surrounded by very talented singers, dancers and a whole host of professionals, who all worked very hard to make the event the success that it turned out to be.

Check out a recording of my performance on youtube:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myk2YT6joMA and pictures taken at the event on my facebook page:- http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sahara-C/20805545633

Thanks to Kulsum for designing & making my dress, and to Alison D'Vine (D'Vine Artistry) for doing my make up.

And special thanks to the organisers of Miss Africa Perth for the opportunity :)

Take care all

ISSA NOMINEE 2008 - Sahara C

I just found out that I was a nominee for the ISSA songwriting contest last year!! My song "No Tomorrow" was a Session One nominee in the competition, and although I did not win, I am very pleased to be nominated -- in fact, I'm positively beaming!!

For someone who's never had songwriting lessons, I have placed in every single contest that I have entered... I am proud of these achievements, and I hope to refine my songwriting skill in coming years - and take at least one of those coveted prizes....

Anyway, check it out for yourself (you'll have to scroll down to the R&B section) -- click here :- http://songcontest.issa-music.org/nominees.htm. Unfortunately there was technical problems and I didn't get the opportunity to get my fans to vote... I will for this year's entry though... LOL :)

As always, thanks for your support & encouragement. I read every single message I receive and try to respond.

Yesterday's photoshoot

Hey there..
Had a photoshoot with the beautiful Lina yesterday... I think it went swimmingly! She did manage to get a few smiles outta me - particularly when she mentioned a certain runner (randome guy) who we thought kept popping up after he got some eye candy during the early part of the shoot... when you see the length of my little dress you'll understand...

Anyway, we did a couple of locations, and managed to get all done by sunset at about 8:30 pm. I dont know if I'll ever get used to having people stare at me during a photoshoot... LOL

Anyway, Lina is working on getting the photos out, and I am very sure I will have something to show y'all soon...

Next stop - the studio! I got a few tracks that need laying down...

YouTube Video : "No Tomorrow"

I had forgotten about this video, which was recorded all the way in March 2008!! Yeah, I know its not that long ago. Anyway, I found it, and decided to put it up onto YouTube for y'all to see.

This was recorded at the Live & Unsigned contest, 2008 in the semi-finals round. The song is my own and called "No Tomorrow", which is essentially about the end of a relationship.

I hope you'll comment and let me know what you think :) Click the link below...
